A female engineer joins the Mr Men series, Little Miss Inventor

It was recently announced that a new character will be joining the Mr Men and Little Miss series and she is an engineer, Little Miss Inventor.

Little Miss Inventor, who has pencils and a spanner sticking out of her bright green curly hair, will become the 36th Little Miss character. She is the latest character creation in the beloved cartoon series by Roger Hargreaves and will join the likes of Little Miss Sunshine and Little Miss Magic.

In the information given, Little Miss Inventor is intelligent, ingenious and inventive. Her brain is full of ideas, which she turns into extraordinary inventions in a shed at the bottom of her garden. As well as inventing things for herself, she also invents things for her friends, whether it’s a chatter-natter hat for Little Miss Chatterbox or a back- pack-snack-attack fridge for Mr. Greedy.

According to the BBC report, Adam Hargreaves, son of Mr Men and Little Miss creator Roger Hargreaves, said: “It’s been nice to write a story that promotes a positive role model and to challenge a stereotype, if only in a small way.”

It is hoped that Little Miss Inventor will bring fresh inspiration to children, to encourage them to think of a career in engineering as they grow up.

The new book will be launched on the 8th of March 2018, to coincide with International Woman’s Day and British Science Week.

We will be launching a monthly series about inspiring women in industry in the next month, so keep an eye out for that.
